'
The Guiding Sorcerer' parent who offers gentle musical guidance.

Video Transcript:

Well Hello, the "Guiding Sorcerer"  parent!

In the Wizarding World of Orlando, I witnessed parents who gently directed their children's wand movements, allowing them to learn through their own exploration. They were close by, providing support and suggestions when needed, but letting the child take charge.

Just like these 'Guiding Sorcerer' parents, you aim to empower your child in their music practice. You want them to develop independence and problem-solving skills. However, sometimes finding the right balance of support can be tricky and doesn’t always go as planned.

About Christy:

As a fellow practicing parent of three and a music teacher of 35-plus years, I created this quiz to help you understand your unique magic abilities as a parent. I understand the challenges and joys of parenting musicians after raising 3 very different children of my own. I get it, and we're in this together.

Why this knowledge is powerful:

Knowing your magical parenting style is a powerful thing, because now you can use this knowledge to level up your practices.  You can specifically choose goals and how you will accomplish them based on things that you will naturally be good at. That means you will be successful and so will your child!

Congratulations!:

You've already shown your commitment to your child's musical education, by taking the time to

do this quiz - so congratulations…and you're here because you're ready to learn what to do next.

As a  "Guiding Sorcerer" parent your next step is to become a master of guidance and do what you already do naturally but even better!

To become a master of guidance, focus on three steps:

First, prepare the practice space together making sure things are organized and everything they need is always there

Second, create a practice plan using a chart that works for your child, you do it all at first then they can take it over eventually.

Third, set big goals with smaller milestones along the way. Make sure they focus on an activity as a reward instead of an object. Bonus, that way, you can always be included in the celebration like a special adventure or music concert.

Focus on these THREE things, and you’ve got this! And hey, thank you for being a “Guiding Sorcerer” parent - the world NEEDS “Guiding Sorcerers” who are creating confident independent adults.

The next step:

Now, ready to put it all together and take the next step? If you're wondering what's next and how to leverage this information, I have a special one-time workshop coming up – the "Level Up Your Music Practices in 2024” with Your Magical Style of Parenting. This FREE workshop is your chance to integrate your newfound knowledge and make 2024 a year of incredible growth and success.

Too often, we try to improve by doing something we read or see online or in our studios. Maybe something your teacher is asking you to do or you read about.

This is great to be inspired from others, but success comes from doing the right thing and not doing everything.  When you make goals that  resonate with your natural, innate style, then you will have success. As you've discovered in this quiz from Practicing pro, you know your  magical parenting style, and it is unique and powerful.  So now instead of focusing on what you have read or seen others do, we will instead use YOUR specific strengths as an “Guiding Sorcerer” to your advantage.

Free Workshop with Practicing pro:
