ELSA AND CALEB SUMMER LESSONS IN VOCAL / DANCE / PERFORMANCE Elsa and Caleb, teachers at the NS Suzuki Institute will be

here from July 27th – Aug 25th. They are offering intense sessions in vocal and dance as well as “for fun” or to try out sessions. Their specialties are audition preparation and bringing your level up a notice with short intensive training. Step, hiphop, vocal, musical theater, acting. Contact elsa.hodder@gmail.com

INTRODUCING – NEW SCOTIA SUZUKI SCHOOL TEACHER

Caitlin Johnson, Violin (Suzuki books 1-6)


Caitlin started playing Suzuki violin as a rambunctious four-year-old. Twenty-two years later, Caitlin holds a masters at the Royal Academy of Music in London and a Bachelor of Music in violin performance from Brigha m Young University. Caitlin has played violin under maestros Robin Ticciati, Yan Pascal Tortelier, Semyon Bychkov, and Christopher Warren-Green at the Royal Academy of Music and at the Royal Festival Hall. As part of the BYU Chamber Orchestra, Caitlin toured and performed in the United States, Europe, and Asia, including prestigious venues such as Budapest’s Liszt Academy and Beijing’s Poly Theater. Caitlin won the 2014 Utah Music Teachers Association Concerto Competition with the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto. Caitlin wrote her undergraduate honors thesis on the modern performer’s interpretation of Leopold Auer’s edits to Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto. For her research, she was awarded several grants. Caitlin spent summer 2014 studying the concerto with violinists in Vienna, where the work was premiered. She presented her Tchaikovsky research in 2014 at an international musicology conference in Portugal. Caitlin will teach Ms Carries maternity leave and then in December Ms Carrie will return part time and some students will finish the year with Ms Carrie.
