#1 Practice Everyday Challenge Charts (10/30/100 day charts)

Updated: Jul 12, 2023

By Christy | the Practicing Pro

Hello everyone, I’m excited to talk about 100-day challenges and how to make practicing your instrument every day a habit. the number one way is by using a daily practice chart. Success comes from preparation for success and also doing a challenge with a friend. If you do even a small 5-minute daily challenge WITH your child, at the same time, just watch how successful you will be TOGETHER! I can't wait to share this with you and I know you can do it! Daily positive practices are coming your way!

How many days does it take to create a habit?

There used to be a popular saying that it took 21 days to form a habit. New research shows that it actually takes longer. It takes closer to 12 weeks or over 66 days. So, guys, this means it really does take a long time to make a new habit that becomes routine in our life and so please be kind to yourself as you work on this. It’s OK if you mess up and have to start over many times - this would be completely normal.

The players daily practice challenge

A very popular activity in Suzuki music programs around the world is the 100-day challenge. This is a wonderful way to help create a habit and make practicing a routine.  Here are a few challenge charts that I made for you guys! I hope you like them. I can't wait to see some of them all done! Send me pictures!!!

If you find doing something every day consistently is difficult for you then no worries at all. I suggest that you start with a 60-day challenge, a 30-day challenge, or even a 10-day challenge. The grandness of the challenge doesn’t matter. What matters is that you’re making an effort to do something every day and improving. When you finish your challenge make sure that you celebrate. Choose something that will motivate you. It doesn’t have to be a food item or something you buy. It can be anything that you love to do too like have a family game night.

The parent's daily challenge

As a parent, you can also do a challenge with your player. It can be anything at all. Set a timer just like your player does. You can also ask your player to "remind you" to check off your chart. You can grab my FREE successful practicing checklist and join my weekly email list. Each week I'll send you an email of practicing tips and free resources. Your challenge can be to do something small for 5 minutes each day towards having a more effective, positive, and fun home music practice. For those that are really serious about having effective, positive, and fun home music practices with your children you can enroll in my "Suzuki Practicing Academy" digital course! Here I'll take you step by step through HOW EXACTLY to have amazing home practices,

One small change at a time

I know you can do this! Remember you don’t have to do everything at once. Just one thing at a time.
