Hello everyone, I’m so excited to share with you some of my monster practice charts! Let's talk first a bit about why these charts work so well and the secret to making them work even better! Then choose your favorite monster chart to download and start working today to make practicing a daily habit! Let's go!

How many days does it take to create a habit?

There used to be a popular saying that it took 21 days to form a habit. New research shows that it actually takes longer. It takes closer to 12 weeks or over 66 days. So, guys, this means it really does take a long time to make a new habit that becomes routine in our life and so please be kind to yourself as you work on this. It’s OK if you mess up and have to start over many times - this would be completely normal.

The 100 day challenge

A very popular activity in Suzuki music programs around the world is the 100 day challenge. This is a wonderful way to help create a habit and make practicing a routine.  Here are a few challenge charts that I made for you guys! I hope you like them. I can't wait to see some of them all done! Send me pictures!!!

If you find doing something every day consistently is difficult for you then no worries at all. I suggest that you start with a 60 day challenge, a 30 day challenge, or even a 10 day challenge. The grandness of the challenge doesn’t matter. What matters is that you’re making an effort to do something every day and improving. When you finish your challenge make sure that you celebrate. Choose something that will motivate you. It doesn’t have to be a food item or something you buy. It can be anything that you love to do too like have a family game night.

A parent preparation daily challenge

As a parent, you can also do a challenge to help. Yours will be to make it part of your daily routine to take just five minutes to set up and prepare for your practice time with your child. I promise that after your “5 minute preparation challenge” is completed and this has become a habit for you to do, that you won’t have to think about preparing anymore and it will just be routine for you too!

Work on a challenge with “your buddy”

If you do your 5 minutes a day practice preparation challenge at the same time your child does their daily practice challenge then you can “work together” on them. Your child will see you value doing something every day and will follow your example. Also, you can remind each other. Your child will remind you since your five minutes are coming up with fun things for them to do with you during and after practice! It’s a win-win

One small change at a time

I know you can do this! Remember you don’t have to do everything at once. Just one thing at a time.

You only need to focus on it for your five minutes a day.

What kinds of things can you do in those five minutes? Attend the webinars for lots of ideas and more free resources to make it easy.

I promise that you will see results from your efforts right away. These results will give you the energy to keep going with your five minute preparations the next day. It will create a cycle for you.

This is the same cycle that your child will experience in their practice time as you attend the seminars and keep making small positive changes for them each week in their practices.

Like a bank account

Its like a bank account. Each positive practicing moment that comes will be like a little deposit into that account. Over time your balance will grow and grow and grow until you have a big bank account of wonderful positive practice experiences with your child. Remember not every practice will be positive of course because “life happens” but you will see improvements from that daily five minutes of preparation that you are doing and you will make little deposits continually into your positive practices bank account. I promise.

Have fun with these charts! I’d also love to hear from you anytime about how your daily practice challenges are going in a message @practicingpro
